Bizarre but true-Cleveland
Indians 1974 season saw
tremendous drop off in ticket
sales. Desperate to draw
fans,
promoters decided on nickel
beer night. The largest
crowds Municipal stadium had
seen in years packed the
stands. The promotion ended
in disaster when drunk fans
began rioting. This led to the
Indians forfeiting a game
against Texas as players
sprinted off the field dodging
beer bottles. Certainly this is
not representative of this fine
organization but a good
lesson
to avoid excessive beer
drinking at the
ballpark. Great players of
Indians history are Joe
Carter,
Corey Snyder, Sandy Alomar
Jr. , Jim Thome, Albert Belle
and Eddie Murray.
