If asked the question, "What
single individual in the history
of professional sports had the
most impact on a club?", the
answer could be George
Halas. The beloved legend of
the Chicago Bears,
nicknamed "Papa Bear", was
NFL
pioneer, player, coach, and
Bears owner. Compiling a
321-142-31 record as head
coach, Halas was innovative
and the first to utilize a man
in motion before snapping the
ball. Halas coached the Bears
for 40 seasons and won six
NFL Championships. More
recently the club rose to the
national spotlight by putting
together the best defense in
NFL history. The 1985 Super
Bowl Champion Bears
coached by Mike Ditka, had
such talented players as Jim
McMahon, William "the
refrigerator" Perry, Walter
Payton, Richard Dent, and
Mike Singletary. Thank you
