The New York Giants are
noted as being
one of the most well-known
football teams in America.
Titled by sportswriters "The
greatest game ever played"
featured the Giants in a duel
against Johnny Unitas and the
Colts in the first televised
championship game. What
many do not remember is the
coaching staff of that team.
Under head coach Jim Howell
were two future hall of fame
coaches. Vince Lombardi
coached the offense and Tom
Laundry coached the
defense. The 1958 Giants
team had a roster that
included hall of fame greats
Rosey Brown, Frank Gifford,
Sam Huff, Don Maynard, Andy
Robustelli, and Emlen
Tunnell. There has been
sporadic success throughout
the years under coaches Ray
Perkins, Dan Reeves, and Jim
Fussell. Perhaps the most
noted team in Giants
history is the 1990 Bill
Parcells super bowl champion
team. In that game the Giants
beat the Bills on a last second
missed field goal by Bills
kicker Scott Norwood. That
super bowl squad
featured LB Lawrence Taylor
and QB Phil Simms. Other
greats were Mark Bavaro,
Stephen Baker, Ottis
Anderson, Carl Banks, and
Pepper Johnson. Thank you
