Under the leadership of Coach
Chuck Knox the Los Angeles
Rams established a great
winning tradition. Most of us
remember Knox for his record
with the Rams (54-15-1) but
few remember the Joe
Stydahar championship team
of 1951. The Rams have
recently experienced similar
success. Coach Dick Vermeil
transformed a lowly Ram
team into a champion in just 3
years, claiming the title in
1999. Having moved to St.
Louis from Los Angeles in
1995 the Rams had little
success until Vermeil
discovered a former arena
league quarterback named
Kurt Warner. Warner
replaced an
injured Trent Green at the
beginning of the year and
proceeded to break every
Ram passing record.
With a great group of
receivers Warner passed for
4400
yards and 41 touchdowns in
his NFL MVP season. The
extraordinary successes of
Kurt Warner
propelled the Rams to claim
their first Super Bowl victory.
