Al Davis, owner of the Raiders
has enjoyed success with
great coaches including John
Madden. Madden was the first
to lead the Raiders to a
championship. Previously,
Raiders successes ran short
of winning the title with
Johnny Rauch at the helm.
Maddens record with the
Raiders was 103-32 with 7
ties. To reach more than 100
wins in just 10 years was a
remarkable accomplishment.
Madden also won the Super
Bowl in 1976. Great players
who contributed to the
Raiders title season were Fred
Biletnikoff, Pete Banaszak,
Willie Brown, Dave Casper,
Cliff Branch, Ted Hendricks,
John Matuszak, Art Shell, Otis
Sistrunk, Ken Stabler, Jack
Tatum, Phil Villapiano, Gene
Upshaw and Mark van
Eeghen. The Raiders would
win the Super Bowl two more
times in the next 8 years
under Tom Flores, but recent
Raider teams have not
recaptured that Raiders
mystique. Greats from Flores
Super Bowl team included
Marcus Allen, Jim Plunkett,
Howie Long, Ted Hendricks,
Mike Haynes, Matt Millen, and
Lyle Alzado. Thank you for
